MAPLE LEAFS (11-8-0) AT FLYERS (9-10-1)
TV: TSN, CSN-PH
Last 10: Toronto7-3-0; Philadelphia 5-4-1.
Season series: This is the second of three games between the teams this season, and the only one in Philadelphia. In their previous meeting, the Leafs scored three times in a 4:10 span to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 5-2 win in Toronto on Feb. 11.
Big Story: How will James van Riemsdyk handle his return to Philadelphia? He already did well in his first game against his former team, scoring a goal in the Feb. 11 game.
Maple Leafs: For Leafs goalie Ben Scrivens, Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators wasn't just another defeat in the Battle of Ontario, mostly because of who scored the game-winning goal.
Scrivens and Ottawa Senators forward Collin Greening were roommates at Cornell University, but there were no friends during or immediately after the game. When Scrivens juggled a Patrick Wiercioch point shot, Greening pounced and knocked the puck past him with 23.4 seconds left in regulation.
"It's frustrating, he's a good player, but you want to play a few of those better," Scrivens told Canadian Press."Definitely not happy for him right now."
It was Scrivens' sixth straight start in place of injured James Reimer, and in that span he's 3-3-0 with a pair of shutouts.
Flyers: Saturday'sgame was a tale of two contests for the Flyers. In the first 7:17 they were down 1-0 to the visiting Winnipeg Jets and were being out-shot 12-1. In the final 47:17 of the game, the Flyers scored five times, put 38 shots on Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec and pulled out a 5-3 win.
It was the 11th time in 20 games the Flyers gave up the game's first goal, and the first time in eight games they entered the third period trailing and pulled out a victory.
They tied the game at 6:18 of the third on Brayden Schenn's power-play goal, and went ahead 2:39 later when Schenn found Wayne Simmonds alone on the backdoor for a power-play goal.
"We just said in the second intermission, we have to be able to thrive in situations like this," Schenn said. "Whether we areup 3-2 or down 3-2, we have to find a way to win hockey games and tonight we did. It was a huge two points to keep on climbing up in the standings, clawing our way back to a playoff spot."
