Leafs Trim Training Camp Roster

by Staff Writer / Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that the hockey club has reduced its training camp roster by four players. Toronto’s current roster (listed below) now stands at 31 players (18 forwards, 10 defencemen and three goaltenders).

Forwards Petri Kontiola and Sam Carrick and defenceman Petter Granberg have all been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies. In addition, Toronto has placed forward Troy Bodie on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Marlies.

Injured non-roster players Rinat Valiev (knee) and Frederik Gauthier (ribs) are both being sent back to Kootenay (WHL) and Rimouski (QMJHL), respectively, for rehab.

The Maple Leafs continue their preseason schedule with a 7:30 p.m. game tonight at Joe Louis Arena against the Detroit Red Wings. The game will be aired live on Leafs TV and TSN 1050.
