The Toronto Maple Leafs provided the following statement after Lou Lamoriello accepted a new position with the New York Islanders organization:

"I'd like to once again express our deepest appreciation to Lou Lamoriello for the work he did over the last three years as our general manager and congratulate him on his new role with the Islanders," said Toronto Maple Leafs President and Alternate Governor Brendan Shanahan. "Lou's contributions to the Toronto Maple Leafs will be felt for years to come. We wish him the best."
