(November 10, 2006) -- John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the club has signed defenceman Andy Wozniewski to a one year contract extension that runs through the 2007-08 season. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Wozniewski, a 26-year-old native of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, played in three games this season with the Maple Leafs before sustaining a shoulder injury October 7 against the Montreal Canadiens.
Last season Wozniewski played in 13 games with the Maple Leafs, collecting one assist and 13 minutes in penalties. Wozniewski also saw action last season with the Maple Leafs' American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, where he skated in 31 games scoring 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) along with 42 penalty minutes.
