Leafs Sign Hoffman

(August 12, 2005) -- John Ferguson, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the club has signed forward Mike Hoffman to a one year entry level contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Hoffman, 24, played 58 games for Cleveland of the American Hockey League last season collecting eight points (one goal, seven assists) with 170 penalty minutes. He finished second on the team in penalty minutes.

Hoffman, 6-4, 240 pounds, split the 2003-04 season between the University of Connecticut of Atlantic Hockey, Worcester of the American Hockey League and Peoria of the East Coast Hockey League.
