(August 18, 2005) -- John Ferguson, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the club has signed goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin to a one year contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Aubin's best season in the NHL came in 1999-00 with Pittsburgh when he set career highs in games played (51), wins (23) and shutouts (2-tie). He ranked first among NHL rookie goaltenders that year in wins, first in games played, first in minutes (2789), second in save percentage (.914), third in goals against average and fourth in shutouts (tie).
Aubin, 28, played 28 games for St. John's of the American Hockey League last season posting a record of 12-9-0 with a 2.87 goals against average. He also registered a .921 save percentage and three shutouts.
The native of Montreal, Quebec has played 168 career NHL games for Pittsburgh posting a record of 63-72-11 with a 2.92 goals against average (six shutouts). He was originally Pittsburgh's second choice, 76th overall in the 1995 Entry Draft.
