(TORONTO) - If the rookie tournament is any indication of what's to come at training camp, then John Mitchell is off to a flying start.
For the second time in as many nights, Mitchell recorded two goals and four points as he helped the Leafs rookies to a 7-0 shutout win over York University Lions.
James Reimer made 24 saves for the shutout, while Kevin Druce faced 46 Toronto shots on the night.
Brent Aubin continued to impress in the tournament with a goal and three-point night. Jiri Tlusty netted his first goal of the weekend while Luke Fulgham, Hunter Tremblay and Robbie Earl all added singles.
The Maple Leafs win puts them one point ahead of Montreal in the tournament standings heading into the practice day on Sunday.
In the early game, Kyle Chipchura, Guillaume Latendresse and Matthew D'Agostini each had a two point night as Montreal downed Florida 5-1.
Games resume on Monday when Toronto faces Florida at 4pm, followed at 7pm with York squaring off against Montreal at Ricoh Coliseum.
