The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Saturday that forward Tim Stapleton has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
Stapleton has scored one in goal in three games played with the Maple Leafs this season. In his first NHL game on February 26 at the New York Islanders he scored the game-winner in the shootout. He then registered his first NHL goal February 28 against the Senators in Ottawa.
This season Stapleton set a new Toronto Marlies franchise record for points and assists. In 70 games, the Oak Park, Illinois native has registered 79 points on 28 goals and 51 assists. He currently ranks sixth (tie) in AHL scoring.
The Toronto Marlies will begin the 2009 Calder Cup playoffs on Wednesday, April 15 when they visit the Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg for Game #1 of the AHL North Division Semifinal.
