The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Saturday that defencemen Karel Pilar has been recalled from the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League.
Pilar, 24, has collected three points (one goal, two assists) with 12 penalty minutes in 12 games with Toronto this season.
He scored his first goal of the season October 10 at Pittsburgh. The native of Prague, Czech Republic has also appeared in four games for St. John's and has registered two points (one goal, one assist) with six minutes in penalties.
Pilar played 23 games for Toronto last year in his first NHL season and recorded four points (one goal, three assists) with eight penalty minutes. He also appeared in 11 playoff games and collected four assists before missing the final nine games due to injury.
Pilar was Toronto's second choice, 39th overall in the 2001 Entry Draft.
