Leafs Recall Aulie, Assign Mitchell To Marlies

Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the hockey club has recalled defenceman Keith Aulie from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. The Maple Leafs also assigned forward John Mitchell to the Marlies and re-assigned goaltender Ben Scrivens to the Marlies from the Reading Royals of the ECHL.

Aulie, 21, has registered two penalty minutes, 31 hits and 15 blocked shots in 12 games with the Maple Leafs this season. The 6-6, 222-pound defenceman made his NHL debut on November 13 versus the Vancouver Canucks. Aulie has also played in 36 games with the Marlies this season, collecting nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) with 61 penalty minutes and an even rating.

Mitchell, 26, has appeared in 23 games with the Leafs this season, recording two goals and an assist for three points with 12 penalty minutes. He missed 15 games from January 3 to February 5 due to a knee injury, and hasn’t played since December 30 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Toronto Marlies next game is on Friday, February 11 when they travel to Abbotsford to take on the Heat. The Marlies next home game is against the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 18 at Ricoh Coliseum.
