(April 17, 2006) -- John Ferguson, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Monday that forward Chad Kilger has been re-signed to a multi-year contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kilger, 29, has played in 78 games for the Maple Leafs this season, and has earned career highs in goals (17), points (28) and penalty minutes (63). Kilger leads the Maple Leafs in hits (145), is second in even-strength goals (16) and fourth in even-strength points (27). Kilger, who was originally claimed off waivers by Toronto on March 9, 2004, played in all 13 of the Maple Leafs playoff games in 2004.
In 578 career NHL games with Toronto, Anaheim, Winnipeg, Phoenix, Chicago and Montreal, Kilger has collected 173 points (83 goals, 90 assists) with 287 penalty minutes.
Kilger was originally selected by Anaheim fourth overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
