by Staff Writer / Toronto Maple Leafs
Heading into the final weekend of the NHL regular season, the playoff situation for the Leafs remains unsettled. Here are the possibilities:

Toronto will finish FIRST in the conference and play Montreal in the first round if:

  • the Leafs win and the Bruins tie or lose, OR
  • the Leafs tie or lose in overtime AND the Bruins lose in regulation AND the Flyers do not win both of their remaining games

Toronto will finish SECOND in the conference and play the seventh-place team, either the Senators, Islanders or Devils, if:

  • the Leafs tie or lose in overtime AND the Bruins lose in regulation AND the Flyers win both of their remaining games

Toronto will finish FOURTH in the conference and play the fifth-place team, either the Senators, Islanders, Devils or Flyers, if:

  • the Bruins win, OR
  • the Leafs lose in regulation, OR
  • the Leafs tie or lose in overtime AND the Bruins tie or lose in overtime

The schedule of games that impacts the Leafs positioning includes:

    Sat 3 pm --- Flyers 2, Rangers 1
Sat 7 pm --- Leafs at Senators
Sat 7 pm --- Penguins at Bruins
Sat 7 pm --- Devils at Capitals
