TORONTO (AP) - Alexander Mogilny had two goals and an assist Thursday night to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-1 exhibition victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
Mogilny, signed as a free agent in the off-season, scored his second and third goals of the preseason. He had 43 goals for New Jersey last year.
Shayne Corson also had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs (3-4-0).
Chris Gratton scored on a breakaway for the Sabres (1-3-0) Mogilny passed in front to Corson, who one-timed the puck past Martin Biron at 1:19 of the third period. Mogilny flicked a wrist shot past Biron just over three minutes later.
Gratton ended Curtis Joseph's shutout bid at 9:23 of third.
Mogilny flicked another wrist shot past Biron, this time from the top of the right faceoff circle, giving Toronto a 3-1 lead at 15:44 of the third.
Biron, the heir-apparent to replace the traded Dominik Hasek, stopped 17 shots. Joseph made 25 saves.
