No lineup changes are expected for the Maple Leafs tonight, as they take on the Calgary Flames.
Jonathan Bernier will make his ninth consecutive start in goal, the most he has ever been tasked in consecutive games.
Another optional skate for the Maple Leafs. Among those that didn’t take part include; Jonathan Bernier, Tyler Bozak, Nazem Kadri and Leo Komarov, who is still dealing with an injury.
A large part of the Leafs identity is built on players and staff that have been put in place by previous Leafs President and GM Brian Burke.
“I appreciate a lot of things that Burke does, he’s honest,” said Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf, who Burke brought to Toronto. “He’d tell you how he felt but you could be honest with him, too. He’s a guy I really enjoyed working for.”
Additional players Burke brought to the Maple Leafs include, Cody Franson, Joffrey Lupul, James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak, Nazem Kadri, Morgan Rielly, Jake Gardiner and Phil Kessel.
Tonight Brian Burke returns to the ACC along with new recruit Mason Raymond, who will return to the lineup for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury.
“I think our attention to detail, it’s incredible what I’ve learned here,” Raymond said about Calgary’s success.
Raymond signed a three-year deal in Calgary this past off-season. Raymond joined the Leafs in September on a tryout run. He won a job on the team and scored 19 goals for Toronto.
