MONTREAL (AP) - Mike Ribeiro scored his second goal in as many games and Jan Bulis got the game-winner as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 in an exhibition game Tuesday night. The Canadiens beat the Leafs 3-0 in St. John's, Newfoundland, in the preseason opener for both teams on Monday night.

Alyn McCauley scored for Toronto, which plays its third game in as many nights on Wednesday in Ottawa.

McCauley beat Jose Theodore from the edge of the crease 11:51 into the game. Ribeiro intercepted a clearing pass in the Toronto zone and put a low shot inside the far post past Mikael Tellqvist at 15:33 of the first period to tie it. Bulis one-timed a pass from Andreas Dackell past Tellqvist from the slot on a power play 6:48 into the second period.

Alexander Mogilny played his first game in a Maple Leafs uniform since signing as a free agent from New Jersey and Robert Reichel made his Leafs debut in his return to the NHL after two seasons playing at home in the Czech Republic.

The Canadiens signed 18-year-old goaltender Olivier Michaud to a three-year contract. Michaud had a 12-4-4 record and a 2.96 goals-against average with Shawinigan of the QMJHL last season.
