In the spirit of the holidays, the Toronto Maple Leafs will hold their annual food drive for Toronto's Daily Bread Food Bank. The "Check Hunger" food drive takes place Saturday, December 15 when the Leafs face off against their rivals, the Montreal Canadiens, at Air Canada Centre.
The wives and partners of the Maple Leaf players will be at Air Canada Centre's gates helping with the collection of non-perishable food items. Most needed this holiday season are high protein foods such as powdered milk, baby formula, canned fish and peanut butter.
The Maple Leaf wives and partners have been involved in the Check Hunger Food Drive since 1991 and have collected more than 30,000 pounds of food for people in need. The Daily Bread Food Bank's local food programs help almost 150,000 people each month.
