The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday that they have hired former Leafs goaltender Mike Palmateer as an amateur scout. Palmateer, 48, has spent the past two years with NHL Central Scouting. In addition to his scouting capacity, Palmateer will act as a goaltending consultant for Leafs prospects.
The Toronto native played six of his eight NHL seasons with the Maple Leafs, helping Toronto reach the Semi-Finals in 1978. In 356 career NHL games, Palmateer recorded 149 wins, 138 losses and 52 ties with a 3.53 goals against average and 17 shutouts.
