(May 3, 2005) -- Hockey fans dined with some of the greatest NHL players to ever wear a Leafs jersey Monday at Springtime in the City, a fundraiser for the Leafs Fund.
Leafs legends including Darryl Sittler, Wendel Clark, Rick Vaive, Ron Ellis and Paul Henderson along with their wives and partners joined by Leafs General Manager John Ferguson and Leafs Assistant Coaches Rick Ley and Keith Acton as they served up a four-course meal and many hockey memories.
"Springtime in the City provides a great opportunity for hockey fans to walk down memory lane with some of their all-time favourite Maple Leafs, while supporting a great cause in the Leafs Fund," said Beverley Deeth, director of Leafs' Community Relations. "Tonight's event illustrates the ongoing commitment that the Leafs Alumni Association and Leafs organization have to the community."
The event was sponsored by 640 Toronto, while the popular Alice Fazooli's restaurant served as the backdrop for the event.
Funds raised from Springtime in the City benefit the Leafs Fund, the charitable arm of the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club. The Leafs Fund is committed to responsible community leadership year-round and to improving the lives of children and youth by providing access to sports and recreation opportunities that encourage health and wellness in our community, raising more than $1 million annually.
