Kilger Claimed On Waivers

(March 9, 2004) -- John Ferguson, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the club has claimed forward Chad Kilger off waivers from the Montreal Canadiens.

Kilger, 27, has played 36 games for Montreal this season collecting four points (two goals, two assists) with 14 penalty minutes. He has also played two games for Hamilton of the American Hockey League scoring one goal. His best season came in 2000-01 when he set career highs in assists (18) and points (32).

The native of Cornwall, Ontario has played 495 career NHL games for Anaheim, Winnipeg, Phoenix, Chicago, Edmonton and Montreal collecting 143 points (65 goals, 78 assists) with 222 penalty minutes. He has also played 23 career NHL playoff games collecting two points (one goal, one assist) with 13 penalty minutes.

Kilger was originally Anaheim's first choice, fourth overall in the 1995 Entry Draft.
