The Maple Leafs get ready to take on the Ottawa Senators in what no doubt will be an emotionally charged affair in our nation’s capital. Here’s what the Leafs will need to key in on in order to grab two points.
Fix The Slow Start
The Maple Leafs found themselves in a fortunate situation to battle back for the win last night against the Rangers. They gave up a goal in the opening minute for the second consecutive game. It’s a situation they can ill afford to put themselves in while on the road. Ottawa has yet to lose a game in regulation at Canadian Tire Centre, sitting at 4-0-3 and have just two regulation losses in their last 11 games.
Reimer has to be Reimer in Ottawa
It’s expected that Randy Carlyle will go with James Reimer in goal and his record against the Senators has been impressive with a 9-2-1 career record. Past experience aside, Reimer has put in some solid performances as of late and has given the team some reliable depth at the position.
Limit The Mistakes
This is the rescheduled game from late October after the tragedy at the War Memorial in Ottawa. Both teams are coming off the heels of back-to-back performances that fatigue will certainly play a factor. This game will come down to which team makes fewer mistakes. If the Leafs keep it simple and don’t take too many gambles, it should be an easy two points for the blue and white.
