Kessel on getting back on track

by Chris Lund / Toronto Maple Leafs

Leafs forward Phil Kessel spoke to the media on Monday ahead of their game with the Hurricanes. Here's what he had to say...

On turning things around after a tough stretch:

It was a tough one, we've got two before the break here so we've got to stay positive, come out hard and play our game. Hopefully we get a couple of bounces.

On the lack of goals:

I don't know what it is right now. I think we were the top scoring team in the League for a while there and now we must be the lowest scoring team in the League. I think that'll change. We've got good players here, we've just got to get it going.

On if he's changing any superstitions:

I'm not changing anything — just keep going and hopefully it'll come.

On the power play:

We've had our chances. I think last game Naz missed JVR got a piece of it and missed wide, that kind of thing. Obviously we've got to get a couple more shots on goal and outwork them. We've got a decent power play here and when it gets going it helps our team.

On facing Jay McClement:

We'll see him out there. He's one of the best penalty killers in the League so it'll be tough. He's a great guy and hopefully I can get one on him.
