The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that forward Andreas Johnsson has accepted his qualifying offer, a one-year, two-way contract with an NHL salary of $787,500.

Johnsson, 23, split his 2017-18 season between the Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies (AHL). In nine regular season games with the Maple Leafs, he registered two goals and an assist, before adding a goal and an assist in six Stanley Cup playoff games. Johnsson recorded 54 points (26 goals, 28 assists) in 54 regular season games with the Marlies and added 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in 16 Calder Cup playoff games. He captured the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the AHL Playoff MVP as part of the Calder Cup champion Marlies and earned a place on the AHL's Second All-Star Team. He also represented the Marlies at the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic as a replacement for Toronto teammate Kasperi Kapanen. In 129 career regular season AHL games, all with the Marlies, Johnsson has registered 101 career points (46 goals, 55 assists), while adding 30 points (16 goals, 14 assists) in 29 career Calder Cup playoff games.
Johnsson was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in the seventh round (202nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
