TORONTO (CP) - The Toronto Maple Leafs have promoted Jeff Jackson to assistant general manager and director of hockey operations.
Jackson, 42, had been serving as the Leafs' director of hockey administration since joining the club in June 2006.
"Jeff has excelled at the numerous duties he has held for the past 14 months and is an invaluable member of our organization,''Leafs general manager John Ferguson Jr. said in a statement. "With his past experience in the National Hockey League and his knowledge of the business side of the game, we feel he has a tremendous future in management.''
Jackson played in the NHL from 1984 to 1992, recording 38 goals and 48 assists in 263 career games with Toronto, the New York Rangers, Quebec and Chicago.
