After Monday's disapointing 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders, the Leafs returned to practice at the MasterCard Centre For Hockey Excellence Tuesday.

Prior to practice, the Leafs announced that Vesa Toskala and John Mitchell were placed on IR and Joey MacDonald was recalled from the Toronto Marlies.

The Leafs also recalled Christian Hanson from the Toronto Marlies on Tuesday. Hanson has been a force with the Toronto Marlies so far this season. Hanson has recorded 18 points in 18 games including eight goals.

Hanson played five games last season with the Leafs recording one goal and one assist.

This will be MacDonald's second stint this year with the Leafs. In his first call up, MacDonald played three games with a record of 0-3-0 and a 3.35 GAA.

With the loss of Mitchell to a knee injury, Wayne Primeau moved up to the third line to take Mitchell's place.

Following practice, Ron Wilson told the media that Mitchell will be out of the lineup for six weeks and Vesa Toskala will miss the next two games.
