Bell, TML Skill Competition On Tap

by Staff Writer / Toronto Maple Leafs

(January 22, 2004) -- Toronto Maple Leafs players will put their skills to the test Sunday at the fourth annual Bell Toronto Maple Leafs Skills Competition at Air Canada Centre.

This year's Skills Competition features seven exciting categories including Puck Control Relay, Fastest Skater, Hardest Shot, Power Play Challenge, Shooting Accuracy, Breakaway Relay and Sudden Death Showdown, giving players a chance to test their speed, agility, shooting accuracy and puck control.

"The Bell Toronto Maple Leafs Skill Competition is always a very popular and exciting community event," said Ken Dryden, vice-chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. "For the Leafs players, bragging rights are at stake for who has the hardest shot and who is the fastest skater on the team. The event gives fans an opportunity to see players outside of game action, in a relaxed and casual atmosphere."

Bell Toronto Maple Leafs Skills Competition has raised more than $1 million for Leafs charities during the past 12 years. All proceeds benefit Go Kids Go! The Leafs Fund, Hockey Fights Cancer and NHLPA Goals Dreams Fund.

Single tickets still remain for the 2004 Bell Toronto Maple Leafs Skills Competition and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at (416) 872-5000. Ticket prices are $14.50 for lower bowl and $10.50 for upper bowl, plus services charges.
