Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock is getting set for his first season at the helm of the Blue and White. It's just about time to drop the puck on the 99th season in franchise history. Players are filing back to Toronto and training camp is just two weeks away. In a surprise to nobody, the Leafs' new bench boss is itching to get back at it.
"We've got a lot of new people on our staff from our medical science people to our management people. We're getting to know each other and getting prepared. We're excited," said Babcock. "I hope to see a lot of guys skating early at Mastercard Centre — being in shape and being ready to go when the puck drops is very important for us. I'm excited to go to Halifax with the team, get to know them, they'll get to know myself and our coaches and get on with it."
"We've been talking about it for a long time, it's time to get going."
