Here's what Leafs head coach Mike Babcock had to say following Monday's outdoor practice... Leafs TV
How was the outdoor practice?
Good, it was lots of fun. It's always nice to have people at your practice, lots of excitement and it's nice to be outside.
How does your club move forward without James van Riemsdyk?
You just move forward, there's nothing you can do. Someone else gets an opportunity. We're going have to find a way. Obviously he's a real good player who was playing good and getting better. We're just going to have to find a way to give someone else an opportunity and they'll have to embrace it.
What happened to van Riemsdyk?
Got hit in the foot last game.
On Bozak and Komarov missing practice:
Maintenance day today because of the cold and all that, they were a little sore we didn't bother practicing.
What has enabled Leivo to get the call up?
When we talk to them, and we talk to them every day, they talk about who is playing good. He's a guy they identified as playing the best so he'll get the opportunity and we'll see how he goes.
Does this test you offensively without James?
I guess that's one way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it is it's a real good opportunity for someone. That's how I'd look at it. There's no sense talking about the guys that aren't here. Let's talk about the guys are here and let's get to work.
Have you considered who will replace van Riemsdyk on Bozak's line?
I'm going to put Shawn Matthias there to start with and go from there.
