NHL Hockey Returns to Radio Airwaves Despite Lock-Out
(October 14, 2004, Toronto) -- 640 TORONTO THE HOME OF THE LEAFS has announced that NHL hockey will return to its airwaves beginning this Saturday night when The Toronto Maple Leafs take on The Ottawa Senators at Air Canada Centre.
640 TORONTO will begin airing Classic Leaf Games every Saturday Night at 7:00 pm beginning this week when The Leafs play The Senators in a classic game seven match up from last seasons playoff.
Had the NHL regular season started as scheduled, this Saturday would have seen the Leafs play Ottawa in the 2004-05 home opener at Air Canada Centre.
Saturday Night Leaf Hockey on 640 TORONTO is the latest addition to the station's full array of hockey programming this fall.
Since the announcement of the NHL lock-out on September 15th, 640 TORONTO has lead the way with the city's most comprehensive lock-out coverage through daily editions of "The Leafs Lunch" at noon. Simulcast on Leafs TV and anchored by veteran hockey analysts, Bill Watters, and Jeff Marek these programs have featured exclusive inside interviews with the issue makers and lively debates with NHL hockey experts.
