EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – With the drop of the puck the post-season began and the Tampa Bay Lightning kicked off their quest for Lord Stanley's Cup. Making their fourth consecutive playoff appearance, the Lightning faced off against the New Jersey Devils for the opening game of the first round.

Despite getting two goals from Vincent Lecavalier, the team's leading scorer during the regular season, Tampa Bay was unable to come back from an early deficit against the Devils. Led by Zach Parise's two-goal effort and three assists from Scott Gomez, New Jersey took Game 1 by a score of 5-3.
