Last night's win was a big one for the Lightning, who have turned the Air Canada Centre into their own personal house of horrors in the past. It was definitely a big confidence boost for this team, which is finding itself more and more each day. Now we head to Buffalo and yet another building where sucess has been hard to come by. A positive result there would be massive ahead of Saturday's visit to the St. Pete Times Forum by Ottawa.
Mike Smith continues to be huge for the Lightning, and the team's much-maligned defense has been getting the job done. If Tampa Bay can figure out how to reduce the number of penalties being taken, I don't think the shots for and against totals will be very different.
The team headed over to Lakeshore Arena this morning for a light practice before a bus ride to Buffalo. Lakeshore ranks in the top two or three among the coldest practice rinks in the league, and even though there were snow flurries in Toronto this morning it's actually warmer outside.
Tonight's night off in Buffalo will invariably lead to a trip to "Chef's," a family-style Italian spot that's a staple in the Buffalo area. Almost every item on the menu can be "parmed" if you like, with a thick layer of cheese baked on top. I'm sure it's all healthy...
