It was a bit of a different travel night for the Lightning after last night’s game, with a one-hour Amtrak charter train ride to Newark instead of a flight. Definitely not a bad way to travel. The team stayed at the hotel in Secaucus this morning instead of heading to the rink for a skate.
The Lightning made a roster move today, calling up fearless banger Karl Stewart from Norfolk. Stewart will be in the lineup tonight in place of Andre Roy, who’s not with the team. Karri Ramo will be in goal, and for fans who want to get to know new goaltender Mike Smith a little better, Smith will tape a sit-down interview with Sun Sports tonight that will air during one of the intermissions.
There’s a cool event coming up on Monday night, especially if you’re a fan of wine or Lightning center Vinny Lecavalier. Vinny’s Toast 4 Charity, presented by Winemall.com and Roy’s, runs from 6-8 p.m. Monday night in the AFS Club at the St. Pete Times Forum. Vinny will be there with friends and teammates for an evening of fine wines and culinary favorites presented by Roy’s’ new executive chef, Kiel Lombardo. Silent and live auctions will feature game-used equipment and more.
Tickets are $150 per person and include a lower level seat for the Lightning’s March 25 game against Florida.
