Some good news on the injury front for the Lightning today, as defenseman Filip Kuba (knee) skated on his own before practice to test it out and decided to join the team for the full skate. However, he’s not expected to be ready for tomorrow night against Pittsburgh. Brad Lukowich also skated on his own today, about a week and a half after hernia surgery, but is still out for a couple of weeks.

Speaking of Lukowich, he’s bringing a few special guests tomorrow night to do the “Let’s Play Hockey” cheer before the game. If you know who’s in town for a concert tomorrow night, you probably can figure it out.

Center Chris Gratton was at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado for surgery this past Saturday, and the team issued the following statement:

Chris underwent successful surgical repair for a torn labrum in the left hip including an osteoplasty in the hip joint to smooth out the surface. Dr. (Marc) Philippon was pleased with the procedures and Chris is now undergoing twice daily physical therapy at their clinic in Vail. He is expected to be on crutches for another two weeks and should be able to resume skating in 6-7 weeks. His prognosis is very good and he should be able to train this summer without restrictions.”

Practice today was intense, with lots of hitting, battling and push-ups for those who weren’t up to par.
