by Lightning Insider / Tampa Bay Lightning
Let become your destination for all the latest Lightning scoops. The Lightning Insider will be in the stands, in the locker room and on the road with the team throughout the 2007-08 season to provide you with a positive look at the Bolts as they pursue Lord Stanley’s hardware. Our resident snoop will post the latest following practices and morning skates, and he’ll make sure you’re the first to know when the Lightning are making news.  Have a question or comment for The Insider?  Send me an email at

Five out of six points on a three-game road trip? Absolutely huge for the Lightning at this point in the season. Sure, it would have been nice to make it six out of six Saturday night in Atlanta, but the Bolts have made it clear they intend to be a part of the playoff race in the Southeast Division. And don't think the other teams in the division haven't taken note!

On a more serious note, our best wishes go out to Panthers forward Richard Zednik as he hopefully makes a full recovery in a Buffalo hospital following the scary incident in yesterday’s Panthers-Sabres game. We get so used to the way NHL players make the game look easy that we forget how dangerous hockey can be. Thankfully Zednik suffered his throat injury during a game with paramedics and doctors standing by, instead of at a practice.

The Lightning skated at 11 a.m. today after taking yesterday off. Defenseman Brad Lukowich, who left Saturday night's game, missed practice today and is listed as day to day heading into tomorrow’s meeting with Montreal. Don’t forget the 7 p.m. start time due to Canadian television.

After practice the players headed upstairs for a Hockey & Hearts Valentines luncheon for the Lightning Foundation. Fans who bid online got to bring their "special someones" to spend a couple of quality hours with their favorite players in this popular Lightning tradition. Attendees flew in from California and the Washington D.C. area to attend the event.
