The Lightning will play the first game of their final home stand of the season tonight when they play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins. None of Tampa Bay’s injured players are ready to make their return so the line-up will look the same tonight as last game. It does look like the only change tonight will be Karri Ramo getting back in the net.
Rick Tocchet said this morning that he is interested in seeing how the team responds in their final two home games. He wants his team to show the fans a little more abrasiveness because “we haven’t given our fans much recently.” Hopefully not too abrasive though, as the Lightning can not afford to give the Penguins too many power-play chances with some of the firepower they have. Lightning fans have not had a chance to see Zenon Konopka at home since the preseason, but they will tonight. Expect him to bring a lot of jam to the game tonight.
Starting tonight and through the summer Tocchet said he will be looking for three key areas when evaluating players, including competitiveness, hockey IQ and skill set. That evaluation process will begin tonight for the players on the roster and that is how he will look at players through the summer.
