In a scene reminiscent of game day in Phoenix last week, the Lightning had a morning stretch on a tennis court today at the team hotel, overlooking the yachts in Marina Del Rey on yet another beautiful morning in Southern California. Once they were done they filed into a video session with the coaches to prepare for tonight's meeting with Los Angeles at the Staples Center.
Head Coach Rick Tocchet said the situation with injuries on defense is “minute to minute” and wouldn’t be determined until after warm-ups, though Vladimir Mihalik is here and ready to go. Mike Smith will be in net and it’s possible the Bolts could dress an extra forward, as they did several times in past years.
For some reason the Lightning have always played well against Los Angeles, posting a 15-5-1 record against the Kings. Tampa Bay has won the last two in LA, and hasn't lost here in 11 years. That said, LA is smarting from a 5-1 home loss against New Jersey on Saturday and will likely come out strong.
