Team Blue Edges Team Red

Team Blue got two second-period goals from Brad Richards, and Dan Boyle scored in the fourth round of a shootout to guide Team Blue to a 4-1 record and the top spot after the final day of training camp scrimmages.

Team Blue trailed 4-2 in the final period but got two unanswered goals from Richards to send the game to a shootout. Team Red's Ryan Craig beat Brian Eklund in the third round but Martin St. Louis responded with a goal of his own as he slipped a shot between the legs of John Grahame. In the next round Boyle took the last shot of the game as he found room and beat Grahame through the five-hole.

Team Blue also got regulation goals from Boyle and St. Louis. Tim Taylor, Brady Greco, Norm Milley and Mitch Fritz all tallied goals for Team Red.

In other action, Gerald Coleman blanked Team Black as he made 22 saves to clinch second place for Team White. White got goals from Vaclav Prospal and Paul Ranger. Prospal had a goal and an assist in the game.

At the conclusion of scrimmages Richards leads all skaters with 18 points (7-11-18) in five games. Richards' Team Blue teammates St. Louis (7-8-15) and Fredrik Modin (4-9-13) rank second and third. Prospal ranks fourth with three goals and 11 points.

After today's practice the team travels to Detroit for Monday's preseason match-up with the Red Wings (7:30, 620 WDAE).
