TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Ian Cole to a one-year contract worth an AAV of $3 million, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.

Cole, 33, spent the 2021-22 regular season with the Carolina Hurricanes where he posted two goals and 19 points in 75 games, the second-most games he's played in during his 12-season NHL career. He also skated in 14 playoff games with the Hurricanes, notching a goal and two points.
A first round pick (18th overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 2007 NHL Draft, Cole has skated in 670 career NHL games with six teams: St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Colorado, Minnesota and Carolina. The left-shot defenseman has career regular season totals of 29 goals, 165 points and a plus-131 rating. Cole has made the playoffs in nine of his 12 seasons and has recorded two goals and 26 points in 110 postseason games.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Cole is a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
