Tampa Bay continued to address its blueline depth with the selection of Quinn Schmiemann from Kamloops of the Western Hockey League using its sixth-round pick (182nd overall) at the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver.

Schmiemann is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman from Wilcox, Saskatoon. The left-handed shot registered five goals and 28 points in 58 games in his first full season with Kamloops to lead all Blazers blueliners for scoring. He added two assists in six playoff games for Kamloops.
Schmiemann will turn 18 years old on July 27. He was rated the 94th-best North American skater by NHL Central Scouting.
