Prospect roundup: Howden stays hot for Moose Jaw

The Lightning's first-round pick in 2016 has eight points in his last six games

With an emphasis on drafting and developing, the Tampa Bay Lightning have created one of the strongest pipelines in the National Hockey League over the last few years. Each week, TampaBayLightning.com will provide statistical updates on key prospects throughout the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and will highlight select players from the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

Ontario Hockey League (OHL)

C Anthony Cirelli, Erie Otters

Drafted 72nd overall (3rd Round) in 2015

Cirelli has not played since Feb. 17, out with a lower-body injury, but is expected to skate in this weekend's games for the Otters.

LW Boris Katchouk, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Drafted 44th overall (2nd Round) in 2016

With three goals in his last two games, Katchouk has nine points in his last seven games to put him fourth in Soo scoring. His goal last Friday was the game-winner on the power play to defeat Sarnia 6-5, and he struck twice (once on the power play) to earn First Star in a 5-2 win over North Bay.

C Christopher Paquette, Peterborough Petes

Drafted 148th overall (5th Round) in 2016

Paquette has five assists in his last five games, and is seventh in Petes' scoring with 43 points in 57 games.

RW Taylor Raddysh, Erie Otters

Drafted 58th overall (2nd Round) in 2016

Raddysh's 14-game streak (8G-17A) came to an end last Friday, but he bounced right back with a two-goal, three-point effort on Saturday night in a 7-3 thumping of Barrie. After an OHL-career high in points last season with 73, he is now just four points away from cracking 100.

D Erik Cernak, Erie Otters

Drafted 43rd overall (2nd Round) by LAK in 2015

Acquired in the Ben Bishop trade to Los Angeles, Cernak becomes the third Bolts prospect playing for Erie this season. He is fourth in defensemen scoring for the Otters with 17 points in 41 games.

D Matt Spencer, Peterborough Petes

Drafted 44th overall (2nd Round) in 2015

Spencer is third in Petes' defensemen scoring with 24 points in 51 games.

C Mitchell Stephens, London Knights

Drafted 33rd overall (2nd Round) in 2015

Stephens has two goals and two assists in his last four games, including a two-point game in an 8-1 win over Guelph on Sunday. He is sixth in London scoring with 48 points, and has averaged just under a point per game since his tenure with the Knights began.

RW Jonne Tammela, Peterborough Petes

Drafted 118th overall (4th Round) in 2015

Tammela scored in his OHL debut on Nov. 8, but has played in just one game since, sidelined with a lower-body injury.

Western Hockey League (WHL)

D Libor Hajek, Saskatoon Blades

Drafted 37th overall (2nd Round) in 2016

Tied for seventh in Blades scoring, Hajek netted a goal in Saskatoon's 3-1 win on Friday over Prince Albert.

C Brett Howden, Moose Jaw Warriors

Drafted 27th overall (1st Round) in 2016

Bolstered by a four-point game last week, Howden has eight points in his last six games to push him to third in Moose Jaw scoring. His 33 goals places him second among all Warriors. Moose Jaw has clinched a berth in the WHL playoffs.

G Connor Ingram, Kamloops Blazers

Drafted 88th overall (3rd Round) in 2016

Ingram is 23-11-2-2 on the year with a .932 save percentage, a 2.22 goals-against, and five shutouts.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)

LW Boko Imama, Saint John Sea Dogs

Drafted 180th overall (6th Round) in 2015

Imama has points in three straight games, leads his team in goals (36) and is fourth overall in scoring with 50 points, 22 points higher than his previous QMJHL-career high.

RW Mathieu Joseph, Saint John Sea Dogs

Drafted 120th overall (4th Round) in 2015

Joseph hasn't pointed in his last two games, but is second in goals (32), third in assists (35), and second in points (67) for the Sea Dogs.

C Otto Somppi, Halifax Mooseheads

Drafted 206th overall (7th Round) in 2016

Somppi added a power-play assist in Halifax's loss to Saint John on Friday and is tied for fourth in Mooseheads scoring with 39 points.

LW Dennis Yan, Shawinigan Cataractes

Drafted 64th overall (3rd Round) in 2015

With 41 goals, Yan has 15 more goals than his next-closest teammate and has goals in four-straight games for his Cataractes, including the game-winner on Friday.

NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (NCAA)

F Ross Colton, U. of Vermont (Hockey East)

Drafted 118th overall (4th Round) in 2016

Colton is second on his team in goals (11), and leads in assists (15) and points (26) through 32 games as a freshman.

F Ryan Lohin, UMass Lowell (Hockey East)

Drafted 208th overall (7th Round) in 2016

Lohin is sixth in scoring with 22 points in 34 games for the River Hawks as a freshman forward.

D John MacLeod, Boston University (Hockey East)

Drafted 57th overall (2nd Round) in 2014

MacLeod has two goals and eight points from the blueline in 29 games for the Terriers as a junior.

G Kris Oldham, U. of Nebraska-Omaha (NCHC)

Drafted 153rd overall (6th Round) in 2015

Through nine starts, Oldham has a 5-3-1 record for UNO, with a 3.38 goals-against and a .895 save percentage.

D Ryan Zuhlsdorf, U. of Minnesota (Big-10)

Drafted 150th overall (5th Round) in 2015

Zuhlsdorf has two goals and three assists through 31 games with the Gophers this season.

AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE - SYRACUSE CRUNCH

Matt Taormina leads all Crunch skaters with 45 points … New addition Byron Froese has 24 goals on the season, one away from the league lead … Froese's eight power-play goals lead the team.
