Tampa Bay Lightning introduce "Bolt for Life" season ticket renewal program

by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA BAY - As the defending Eastern Conference Champion Tampa Bay Lightning enter the final 30 games of the 2015-16 regular season and push to the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the club is making it easier than ever for season ticket members (STMs) to renew their seats, giving them the option to become a “Bolt for Life.” The unique payment plan will allow STMs the ultimate savings opportunity by spreading out their season ticket commitment over 12 interest-free payments. During the renewal process, members will also have the opportunity to reserve their seats for any potential home playoff games to be played in 2016. Members should expect to receive their renewal packet from the Lightning this week.

“Our season ticket members have enabled us to sell out Amalie Arena for every home game so far in 2015-16, and we thank each and every member for their great support this season,” said Lightning Chief Executive Officer Steve Griggs. “Our goal with the 2016-17 renewal program is to continue offering our members affordable tickets, the best entertainment value and in-game experience, world class service, and of course, a hockey team they can be proud of on and off the ice.”

The Lightning boast the third lowest average ticket price in the National Hockey League in 2015-16 ($49.33 per game) as owner Jeff Vinik continues to spend at or near the NHL’s salary cap, allowing general manager Steve Yzerman and head coach Jon Cooper to compete with the league’s big market teams. Team Marketing Report’s Fan Cost Index cites the Lightning as the third most affordable NHL experience for a family of four to attend and ESPN the Magazine recently ranked the Lightning third in professional sports and #1 in the NHL in its Ultimate Pro Sports Team Standings.

Season ticket member prices for 2016-17 will increase at an average of seven percent over 2015-16, with some ticket prices increasing by less than two percent. With the exception of Chase Club members, no Season Ticket Member will see an increase of more than $6 per game per seat from 2015-16 to 2016-17. Nearly 30 percent (or almost 5,500) of all seats in Amalie Arena will be priced at $30 or less per game for Season Ticket Members, with an entry level price point of $21 per game.

While renewing for 2016-17, STM’s will also have the opportunity to Cheer Now, Pay Later for their 2016 playoff tickets. This allows members to only pay for games played at the conclusion of each round, rather than paying for all possible playoff games up front at one time. Lightning STM’s will also have first access to purchase additional playoff tickets through exclusive single game ticket pre-sales before the general public.

The “Bolt for Life” program is just one of several options STMs will be offered by the organization in order to pay for their 2016-17 season tickets while also securing 2016 Stanley Cup Playoff tickets. Members will continue to receive 25 percent off Amalie Arena concessions and 35 percent off merchandise purchases by using their STM jersey or membership card at point of purchase.

The Lightning hosted more than 30 private Season Ticket Member only events in 2015-16, focusing on hockey education, Lightning player and alumni access, family events and direct business-to-business networking opportunities. The organization will host these same types of events for STM’s in 2016-17.
