Tampa Bay Area Volkswagen Dealers Announce Partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa Bay Area Volkswagen dealers and the Tampa Bay Lightning are teaming up to bring Lightning Launch Weekend and the Lightning Post-Game Concert Series to the St. Pete Times Forum this season. Fans will have the opportunity to register to win exclusive Volkswagen prizes at the event and an electric guitar autographed by the entire 2010-11 Tampa Bay Lightning team.

Lightning Launch Weekend is a one-of-a-kind event created to celebrate the start of the 2010-11 Lightning season. The fun-filled weekend will include a concert by the Grammy Award-winning Stone Temple Pilots (STP) on October 8 at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 2010-11 home-opener on October 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Another highlight of the night is the introduction of the 2010-11 Tampa Bay Lightning, featuring Steven Stamkos, Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier, Victor Hedman, Ryan Malone and recently-acquired forward Simon Gagne. Lightning personalities will also be in attendance, including Head Coach Guy Boucher, Lightning Alumni Dave Andreychuk and Chris Dingman and more.

Lightning Launch Weekend will conclude on October 9 at 7:30 p.m. with the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 2010-11 home-opener versus the Atlanta Thrashers. The matchup will feature special pregame activities on the West Plaza including live music, a schedule magnet giveaway courtesy of Bud Light and more.

Volkswagen will also sponsor the Lightning Post-Game Concert Series for the 2010-11 season. The Lightning Post-Game Concert Series began in 2006 and has been a huge hit, attracting fans to enjoy additional entertainment after watching exciting Lightning hockey. The first post-game concert of the series will be performed at the home opener by the hit band Zo2.
