The Lightning got into Ft. Lauderdale last night around midnight after the game against Washington. Last night was a disappointing game for the Bolts. They outplayed the NHL's best team for most of the game, even holding them to just four shots in the first period, yet the effort didn't translate into two points. Give the Capitals credit, they made the most of their chances and got some good goaltending from Jose Theodore. The Lightning will have to shake off the loss and use the great effort as a building block heading into today's game against the Florida Panthers in Sunrise.
The team did not skate today, so there isn't a lot to report. Mike Smith will get the start in between the pipes. He has sat patiently and waited for his chance. Hopefully he can make the most of it tonight. My guess is the rest of the line up will remain the same.
It is a 5 p.m. game with Rick Peckham and Bobby "the Chief" Taylor bringing you all the action on Sun Sports while Dave Mishkin will call the game on 620 WDAE. The team will fly home after the game and get ready for the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
