Today's morning skate was relatively uneventful for the Bolts, outside of the news that defensemen Mike Lundin and Matt Smaby will be joining the team this afternoon from AHL Norfolk.
Although it looks as if neither will play tonight, keep your eyes on Lundin potentially for tomorrow's game in Atlanta. With only 22 hours between game times today and tomorrow, having an extra defenseman available isn't a bad idea. And even though Mattias Ohlund continues to be listed at day-to-day, he and Tocchet both acknowledge he probably won't be suiting up this weekend.
Tocchet also confirmed that Mike Smith will get the call again tonight in goal for the Bolts. And unless something strange happens the Insider predicts that Antero Niittymaki will get the call tomorrow night against the Thrashers. He has a tremendous NHL record against the Atlanta, so the rotation makes good sense.
Tonight's game begins at 7pm and Lightning fans can catch all the action tonight on Sun Sports with Rick Peckham and Bobby "the Chief" Taylor handling the call of the game. Fans should look for an intermission interview tonight in which forward Jeff Halpern talks with the Chief about the positive impact team building and chemistry can have over the course of the season.
