Tampa Bay Lightning prospect and Kingston Frontenacs forward Henri Ikonen impressed over the weekend with a shorthanded penalty shot goal that helped earn a 4-2 win over the Sarnia Sting.
Ikonen, who plays in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) is the Frontenacs points leader with 56 points (18 goals, 38 assists) through 41 games played. His most recent penalty shot against the Sting was not only a shorthanded penalty shot, but a one-handed top-shelfer to extend his point streak to five games.
Ikonen, 19, was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning 154th overall in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot, 190-pound left wing also skated in the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship for Finland and recorded three points (one goal, two assists) helping Team Finland earn gold over Sweden in the finals.
Next on the docket for the Frontenacs are two home games, followed by back-to-back games, one home and one away, where Ikonen will look to continue his point streak.
