Radko Gudas is really excited.
T-shirts designed after the fake third jersey that the front office pranked the players with are now available to purchase at the Tampa Bay Sports powered by Reebok at Amalie Arena. The men's version goes for $35 and the women's v-neck goes for $40. They are expected to be available for purchase online at tampabaysports.com in the next week or so.
So how exactly did we come up with the plan to prank the players? It all started in one of those meetings during the summer where a lot of ideas are thrown around about how to promote our new jersey. It wasn't exactly the best kept secret in the world that the Lightning would be introducing a new black jersey before the start of the season.
The Lightning reached out to Reebok who designed and sent us two authentic fake jerseys including the one designed after an ugly Christmas sweater.
The LightningVision video team set up two go-pro cameras in the equipment room and put a mic on media relations director Brian Breseman, who interacts with the players on a daily basis. Now fans can own their own palm tree t-shirts and the rest is history.
