/ Tampa Bay Lightning
STUDENTS TO BE INVITED BY THEIR SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM
For the second consecutive year, 100 needy students from Durant High School and Dover Elementary School will be offered free haircuts and new school supplies as part of the "One Hundred Haircuts" program. The program was initiated by Christine Tortorella, wife of Lightning head coach John Tortorella, and is supported by Office Depot, Spirit of Beauty Hair Salon and The Lightning Foundation.
Stylists Juan Antonio and Diana Rivera of the Spirit of Beauty Hair Salon will provide the haircuts to the students, who are invited by the administrations of their schools. While at the salon, students will also receive new school supplies, including a backpack, pencils, pens, and notebooks. The program is designed to provide students in need the necessary preparations to help them succeed during the new school year.
The program will run at the Spirit of Beauty Hair Salon, at 712 East Alsobrook St., Suite 6, in Plant City, from August 13-31. Mrs. Tortorella will greet the first group of children from 10:30-noon Saturday, August 13.
