Ondrej Palat leaves game against Montreal Canadiens

by Bryan Burns / Tampa Bay Lightning

Ondrej Palat was injured after blocking a shot with 2:03 left in the second period of Tampa Bay’s top of the Atlantic Division tilt against Montreal.

Palat didn’t return to the Lightning bench for the start of the second period and is out for the remainder of the game with a lower-body injury.

“I think they took a picture,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said after the game, referring to an x-ray. “I think it was OK, but you know how it goes, once you take the skate off, there’s not much of a chance of getting it back on.…We’ll re-evaluate tomorrow but I think the picture looked good, so should be OK.”

Palat, the left wing on the Bolts’ high-scoring Triplets line, is fourth on the team in scoring (52 points) and second in assists (37).

Palat has played 63 of the Lightning’s 67 games entering Tuesday.
