/ Tampa Bay Lightning
More than 100 Tampa Bay Lightning staff members will visit 46 schools in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco Counties on Wednesday, November 16 as part of the annual Great American Teach-In. The Lightning staff will discuss the importance of education and the different roles they fill in the day-to-day operations of the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.
"I want to thank each of our employees for getting out and participating in the Great American Teach In once again in 2005," said Ron Campbell, President of the Tampa Bay Lightning and the St. Pete Times Forum. "As a very visible part of the Tampa Bay community, we find it important to take a leadership role when it comes to charitable efforts and community relations campaigns. And spending time with our school children, with the future of our nation, is as important a cause as there is. We embrace the opportunity to positively affect so many school kids on a single day each year."
Among those scheduled to visit local schools are Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Sean Henry, Executive Vice President of Corporate Sales and Marketing Harry Hutt and Senior Vice President of Sales Dave Bullock.
The Lightning continues to be a driving force in education through numerous educational programs implemented in the Tampa Bay community. With programs such as Score With Reading and Report Like the Pros featuring Lightning Radio play-by-play commentator Dave Mishkin, Hockey By the Numbers featuring television play-by-play announcer Rick Peckham, Inch and Miles and Winning Ways character education programs the Lightning are active in area schools year-round contributing to the Bay Area's youth.
