Kate Walker builds one of many ornaments available for the Lightning Foundation's holiday season fundraiser.
Around twenty wives and girlfriends of Tampa Bay Lightning players have devoted their time and energy to decorate glass ornaments for charity in the spirit of the upcoming holiday season.
In the hours leading up to the puck drop of the December 23 game between the Lightning and Flyers, the Lightning wives and girlfriends will be joined by the Lightning Foundation in selling their artful ornaments as part of this year’s annual holiday fundraiser. All proceeds from the event benefit the Lightning Foundation’s Annual Grant Program.
“This initiative is very important for the Lightning Foundation, as well as the Tampa Bay Lightning wives and girlfriends, to be involved in,” Executive Director of the Lightning Foundation Kasey Dowd Smith said. “It’s a great way for all of us to show our generous spirit of giving in keeping with holiday traditions. We hope to make this an annual event.”
The sale will take place in section 112 and run through the end of the second intermission.
“Around this time of year, it is wonderful to see the Lightning wives and girlfriends have the opportunity to create a unique holiday item and to share it with all of our cherished fans and supporters,” Dowd Smith said.
