The Tampa Bay Lightning today announced they will wear special ‘Boston Strong’ stickers on their helmets during Thursday night’s game versus the Boston Bruins at the TD Garden in Boston. The helmets will then be signed and auctioned off at NHL.com to benefit the One Fund Boston.
The One Fund Boston was established by Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino in response to the horrific bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15. The purpose of the One Fund Boston is to raise money to help those families most affected by the tragic events that unfolded that day. To date the One Fund Boston has received nearly $22 million in donations.
The autographed white Lightning helmets worn Thursday night will be auctioned off at NHL.com. To go directly to the Lightning page, click here. In a further show of support, Lightning coaches and bench staff will also be wearing Boston Strong lapel pins.
The stickers and lapel pin feature the words ‘Boston Strong’ along with the blue and yellow colors of the 2013 Boston Marathon.
